How the calculator works
Kela pays up to €57.60 for each reimbursed session. Your share per session is the therapist's price minus the Kela reimbursement. If the price is below €57.60, the reimbursement does not exceed the price.
Kela reimburses up to 80 sessions a year and up to 200 sessions over three years. Sessions beyond those limits are paid in full by you. The calculator applies these limits to each of the three years.
According to Kela, the reimbursement amount and the visit limits are the same for adults (26-67) and young people (16-25). You belong to the young people group if you are under 26 when you apply for the first therapy year, and the therapy is then reimbursed as youth therapy for the full period of up to three years.
"No Kela reimbursement" calculates the cost without any reimbursement, for example when you pay for therapy entirely yourself.

The table uses a reimbursement of €57.60 per session and a year of 40 weeks. Prices are illustrative, not a specific therapist's prices.

The second row has 80 sessions a year, or 240 over three years. Kela reimburses at most 200 of them, so you pay the remaining 40 sessions in full.
Assumptions and limits
- The calculator assumes Kela has already granted rehabilitative psychotherapy and your therapist is approved by Kela. Without a Kela decision, no reimbursement is paid.
- It uses the individual therapy reimbursement. Group, couple and family therapy have different amounts.
- It assumes the same number of sessions in each of the three years and a price that does not change. Kela decides one year at a time.
- The result is an estimate, not a Kela decision. Check the current reimbursement with Kela.
