Psychoanalysis
An in-depth therapy approach that explores unconscious thoughts and feelings to understand the roots of present-day problems.
What is Psychoanalysis?
Psychoanalysis is an in-depth therapy approach based on the theories developed by Sigmund Freud. It explores unconscious thoughts, feelings, and memories that influence your behavior and relationships.
How does Psychoanalysis differ from psychotherapy?
Psychoanalysis is more intensive than typical psychotherapy: - Frequency: Typically 3–5 times per week - Duration: Often several years - Method: Free association, dream interpretation - Position: Traditionally lying on a couch
Who can benefit from Psychoanalysis?
Psychoanalysis may be a good choice if: - You want to understand yourself deeply - You have recurring problems whose root causes you want to understand - You're willing to commit to long-term work - Other therapy approaches haven't provided sufficient relief
Things to consider
Psychoanalysis requires a significant time and financial commitment. Kela does not usually reimburse psychoanalysis, but it can reimburse psychoanalytic psychotherapy (1–2 times per week).
